"From Algiers to Ghardaïa: Move from one civilization to another"

Algiers / Tipaza / Sétif / Constantine / Batna / Ghardaïa / Algiers

Day 1:

Arrival in Algiers, transfer to hotel, lunch break. In the afternoon, visit the Kasbah of Algiers (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Dinner in the heart of the Kasbah. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 :

After breakfast, departure for the Roman town of Tipaza, visit of the Roman ruins, then on to Sidi-Rached to visit the tomb of the Christian woman or "Roumiya". Lunch break. In the afternoon, visit the museum of the Roman city of Cherchell. Return to the hotel at the end of the day, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3:

After breakfast, departure for the town of Sétif, the scene of the outbreak of the Algerian War, visit to the ancient city of Djemila. Lunch break. Afternoon city tour. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 :

After breakfast, departure for Constantine (formerly Cirta), considered one of the oldest cities in the world. Tour of the old town, visit to the Ottoman Ahmed Bey Palace. Lunch break. In the afternoon, tour of the city with its many suspension bridges, including the famous Sidi M'Cid bridge, the war memorial (dating from the French colonial era) and other monuments. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 5: (Wednesday)

After breakfast, departure for the town of Batna, to visit the ancient city of Timgad, nicknamed "the Pompeii of North Africa". Lunch break. In the afternoon, return to Constantine, transfer to the airport for departure to Ghardaïa, capital of the M'zab and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Arrival at Ghardaïa airport, transfer to the tourist residence. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6 :

After breakfast, visit the Taghardait Ksar (castle) and craft market. Lunch break. In the afternoon, visit the crafts museum, then the Ksar of At-Izjan in Béni-Isguen. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7 :

After breakfast, visit the Ksar of Tajnint in El-Atteuf and the mausoleum/mosque of Sheikh Sidi Ami Brahim. Visit to the "ecological" town of Tafilalet and its eco-park. Lunch break. Afternoon stroll in the palm grove. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8 :

After breakfast, a 4X4 expedition into the desert. Several activities are on offer, including quad biking and camel riding. Lunch break. In the afternoon, you'll be served an ember tea and watch the magnificent sunset over the sand dunes. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9 :

After breakfast, transfer to Algiers airport. Arrival in Algiers, visit of the Basilica of Notre Dame d'Afrique. Lunch break. In the afternoon, visit the Jardin d'Essai (a mythical garden where scenes from the 1st Tarzan film were shot), followed by a visit to the Martyrs' Monument on the heights of Algiers. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10 :

Transfer to Algiers airport.

Return and end of stay.
