Day 1 :

EUROPE / ALGIERS

Flight from Europe to Algiers. Welcome by your guide. Visit and discovery of the New Mosque of Algiers (exterior view). This is the second-largest mosque in the Muslim world after Mecca. It boasts a minaret 270 m high, the equivalent of 37 storeys! Transfer to hotel for 5 nights in Algiers.

Day 2 :

ALGIERS

Day dedicated to discovering Algiers. Visit the Kasbah, the old city, a UNESCO World Heritage site: the Dey Palace, the Centenary House, the Sidi Ramdane Mosque and the Bir Chebana fountain... Then visit the Princess Khedaoudj Palace and the exceptional Mustapha Pacha Palace in the Lower Casbah. Continue your tour of Algiers: the Jamaa-al-Jdid mosque, one of Algiers' historic mosques, decorated in ceramics and wood; Bastion 23, also known as the Palais des Raïs; the neo-Moorish Grand Post Office... Shopping break in the Bab-el-Oued district, followed by a climb to the heights of Algiers, to the Notre-Dame d'Afrique basilica.

Day 3 :

CHERCHELL/ TIPAZA

Depart on an excursion along the Turquoise Coast to Cherchell, the ancient Roman Caesarea. Discover this city of artists, with its magnificent location on the Mediterranean. Visit to the Cherchell National Museum, home to exceptional antique sculptures. Continuation to Tipaza, followed by a guided tour of the UNESCO-listed ancient port of Tipaza, an ancient Punic and then Roman city, with its theater, circus and thermal baths. Return to Algiers in the evening.

Day 4 :

ALGIERS

TIBHIRINE/ MITIDJA

Continuation of the guided tour of Algiers, to discover the achievements of the great European architects who modified the city from the late 19th century to the present day. In the morning, visit the Martyr's Memorial erected in 1982 to mark the twentieth anniversary of the country's independence, then take the cable car down and stroll through the lush 32-hectare Jardin d'Essai. Lunch. Then visit the Bardo National Museum, housed in a former Ottoman villa. Nestling at the bottom of a magnificent garden, the villa houses some very interesting collections of remains discovered, for the most part, during excavations carried out in Algeria.

Day 5 :

TIBHIRINE/ MITIDJA

Departure for Boufarik, the town where the famous Orangina® drink was invented. Continue through the Gorges de la Chiffa to the monastery of Tibhirine, also known as the Abbey of Notre-Dame de l'Atlas, near Médéa. Afterwards, a stop at the ruisseau des Singes, well known to the people of Algiers, who come to admire the free-roaming monkeys, followed by the artisans' village of El Hamdania. Return to hotel.

Day 6 :

ALGIERS/ ORAN

Transfer to Algiers station and board the train for Oran (1st class carriage). Disembarkation. In the afternoon, discover Oran, the country's second-largest city, sometimes nicknamed the "radiant": the town hall guarded by its two lions, the seafront, the theater, the train station. Continuation of the guided tour of Oran with a stroll to Mers El Kebir, then on to the Santa Cruz chapel and fort overlooking the city, the Bey's palace and the Hassan pacha mosque. Check-in at your hotel in Oran.

Day 7 :

ORAN/ TLEMCEN

Departure for Tlemcen, near the Moroccan border. Lunch on board. Visit of the city. Tlemcen is considered the capital of Andalusian art in Algeria: the remarkable palace-citadel of the Mechouar, built in the 13th century; the great mosque; the Lala Setti plateau and its panoramic view of the city.

Day 8:

TLEMCEN/ SIDI BEL ABBÈS/ ORAN

Departure for the 7 tiered waterfalls of El Ourit, then a stop at the railway bridge built by Eiffel. Continue to the magnificent Beni Add grotto in the Aïn Fezza limestone massif. Return to Sidi-Bel-Abbès. Couscous lunch in the Khaima (traditional tent) with folklore. Panoramic orientation tour of the town, founded by the French in 1849 and occupied by the Légion Etrangère until 1962. Departure for Oran.

Day 9:

ORAN / DEPARTURE AIRPORT / HOME

Transfer to Oran airport for the return flight to Europe, assistance and accompaniment to boarding.
